The Akwa Ibom State Government has handed over keys to 25 newly constructed 2-bedroom bungalows to public servants as part of its ongoing welfare and housing intervention for workers in the state.

The presentation, which took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Conference Room of the Office of the Head of Civil Service, was described as a continuation of government efforts to improve living conditions for civil servants.

The housing units are part of a broader initiative that also includes 150 previously allocated 2-bedroom expandable flats for junior workers on Grade Levels 01–08.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of Civil Service and Chairman of the National Housing Fund (NHF) in the state, Mrs. Elsie Peters, said the gesture reflects the administration’s commitment to addressing accommodation challenges faced by workers.

She explained that the newly allocated homes are located at the Public Servants’ Estate in Ikpedip, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, and were developed through the Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company (APICO), with construction handled by MacDudu Resources Limited.

Mrs. Peters noted that the initiative aligns with the state government’s ARISE Agenda under Governor Umo Eno, aimed at improving welfare and boosting productivity in the public service.

She urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the facilities and continue to demonstrate commitment and loyalty in their duties.

“Receiving these keys today is a privilege that comes with responsibility. Beneficiaries are expected to maintain the homes and continue to support the vision of the present administration,” she said.

One of the beneficiaries, Lionel Udoka, expressed gratitude to the state government for the opportunity, describing the gesture as a major relief and motivation for improved service delivery.

“We are sincerely grateful to Governor Umo Eno for this initiative and to Mrs. Elsie Peters for ensuring its successful implementation,” he said.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Ms. Doris Ikpuho, said the housing project underscores the government’s commitment to staff welfare and sustainable development.

She commended the governor’s drive in ensuring the completion of the estate and appreciated all stakeholders involved in the project’s delivery.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to expanding social welfare programmes aimed at improving the standard of living of public servants across Akwa Ibom.
