Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has said the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has significantly improved the state’s revenue generation, raising monthly internally generated revenue from about ₦2 billion to as much as ₦12 billion within three months of implementation.
The governor disclosed on Saturday during the Third Anniversary Media Briefing held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
Eno attributed the increase in revenue to the closure of financial leakages and stricter monitoring of revenue collection processes across government agencies.

According to him, before the introduction of the TSA, the state celebrated whenever monthly internally generated revenue approached the ₦2 billion mark. However, revenue collections surged to ₦7.5 billion in the first month of implementation, rose to ₦10 billion in the second month and reached ₦12 billion by the third month.
The governor said the reform has strengthened financial accountability by ensuring that government revenues are paid directly into official accounts, thereby reducing opportunities for diversion of public funds.
He explained that the TSA forms a critical component of the administration’s financial management reforms under the ARISE Agenda and has enabled the government to channel more resources into development projects and public services.
“Every naira recovered through these reforms is being redirected towards projects and programmes that directly impact the lives of our people,” Eno said.
The governor further revealed that the improved revenue profile has assisted the government in settling a substantial portion of outstanding debts owed to contractors, helping to restore confidence in the state’s construction sector and accelerate ongoing infrastructure projects.
Eno also highlighted efforts to sanitise the state payroll system, disclosing that the administration uncovered and removed more than 2,000 ghost workers allegedly inserted into the payroll by fraudulent officials.

He said the exercise eliminated illegal salary payments, enhanced transparency and ensured that government resources were directed to legitimate public servants.
While expressing satisfaction with the progress recorded over the past three years, the governor said his administration remained committed to strengthening institutions and building sustainable governance systems that would endure beyond his tenure.
