US President Donald Trump has drawn public attention after a moment during a NASA event in Houston, Texas, where he appeared to stop at the wrong position on stage before being guided by a military official.
The incident happened on Friday during Trump’s visit to the Johnson Space Centre, where he attended a ceremony connected to the Artemis II lunar mission and presented the Congressional Space Medal of Honour to astronauts involved in the historic mission.
Footage from the event showed Trump walking toward the front of the stage before pausing briefly. A man in military uniform later approached and directed him to his assigned position.
The moment quickly spread on social media, with some users questioning the incident while others defended the president, saying it was a routine stage-direction issue.
The episode has renewed public discussion about Trump’s recent appearances at official events, with critics pointing to previous moments where he appeared to require assistance from aides or officials during public engagements.
Supporters of the president have dismissed the criticism, maintaining that such moments are being exaggerated for political reasons.
During the NASA visit, Trump also announced plans for the establishment of a US Space Academy, a proposed programme aimed at training students for careers in aerospace engineering, national security and space exploration.
The latest incident comes after another public moment in July during Trump’s visit to Turkey for a NATO summit, where Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan briefly helped redirect him while walking during an arrival ceremony.
The White House has not issued any official statement regarding the NASA stage incident.
