Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued two kidnapping victims during separate operations in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The operations were carried out as part of intensified efforts by security forces to disrupt the activities of criminal and terrorist groups and prevent them from operating freely across the state.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Oteh said troops of Sector 3, deployed in Bassa Local Government Area, launched a search-and-rescue operation around 9 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving credible information about the abduction of Ndubuisi Onuigbo.
He said the operation resulted in the successful rescue of Onuigbo from his abductors.
In a separate operation, troops of Sector 2, deployed in Kukawa village, Kanam Local Government Area, encountered suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to Oteh, the troops engaged the suspects and pursued them as they fled the area.
The fleeing suspects reportedly abandoned a kidnapping victim, identified as Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who was subsequently rescued by the troops.
The two victims were later debriefed and reunited with their families.
The Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for what he described as their professionalism and decisive action in tackling criminal activities across Plateau State.
Dangana urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide security agencies with credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the task force to restoring peace and security across its area of responsibility.
