The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to its members and supporters to remain calm following the omission of its governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, from a list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party maintained that Adebutu remains a legitimate member of the PDP and expressed confidence that the controversy surrounding his omission would be resolved ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Kayode Adebayo, the party said Adebutu had completed the required digital membership registration process.
According to the statement, his membership card was printed, verified and submitted to INEC within the prescribed period.
The PDP insisted that Adebutu had never resigned from the party or defected to another political platform.
The opposition party also alleged political interference in the matter, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to undermine its electoral prospects.

However, the allegations were not independently substantiated, and no response from the APC was included in the statement.
Adebayo maintained that Adebutu’s omission did not invalidate his membership of the party, expressing confidence that the relevant authorities would address the issue.
The party urged its supporters to avoid actions capable of heightening political tension while it pursued clarification and resolution of the matter.
It also reaffirmed its intention to participate in the 2027 governorship election, saying preparations would continue despite the development.

The PDP called on its members and stakeholders to remain peaceful and await further communication from the party leadership.
The precise reason for Adebutu’s omission, as well as INEC’s official position on the matter, remained unclear from the party’s statement.
