Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed a club-record £100 million ($133 million) deal to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, according to multiple British media reports.

The agreement is said to consist of an initial £92.5 million fee plus £7.5 million in performance-related add-ons. If completed, Tonali would become the most expensive signing in Tottenham’s history.

New Spurs manager, Roberto De Zerbi is reported to have beaten competition from Arsenal and Manchester City to secure the Italian midfielder’s signature.

The transfer forms part of Tottenham’s major summer rebuild. The club have also reportedly agreed a deal to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United after already strengthening with the arrivals of Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dúbravka, and Jan Paul van Hecke.

Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan in July 2023 for £55 million. Later that year, he received a 10-month worldwide suspension from the Italian Football Federation for breaching betting regulations during his time in Italy. In May 2024, he was also handed a suspended two-month ban by The Football Association after admitting to further breaches of English betting rules.

If finalised, the transfer would represent one of the biggest deals of the summer and signal Tottenham’s intent to strengthen their midfield under De Zerbi.
