No fewer than 1,891 residents of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State are set to receive ₦75,000 each under the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme.

The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga, disclosed this on Wednesday during the distribution of debit cards to beneficiaries at the Ikot Ekpene Town Hall.

She explained that the programme is designed to provide direct financial support to poor and vulnerable households to improve their livelihoods and strengthen the nation’s social protection system.

Princess Ibanga described the Conditional Cash Transfer as one of the key components of the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programme, alongside initiatives such as N-Power, the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme and grants for vulnerable groups.

She said each beneficiary would receive a lump sum of ₦75,000, representing three monthly payments of ₦25,000, adding that all beneficiaries were selected from the National Social Register and would receive their payments after successful identity verification.

The Commissioner commended Governor Umo Eno for creating an enabling environment for the implementation of Federal Government social intervention programmes in Akwa Ibom State and applauded President Bola Tinubu for sustaining the National Social Investment Programme.

She urged beneficiaries to comply with the guidelines for the exercise and encouraged eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom, urged beneficiaries to remain orderly and assured them that all duly verified beneficiaries would receive their debit cards.
