President Bola Tinubu has expressed satisfaction that Nigerian states are no longer facing difficulties in paying workers’ salaries, contrasting the situation with what he said existed before he assumed office in May 2023.
The president made the remarks on Friday in Lagos while receiving members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, who paid him a Sallah homage led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Tinubu noted that improved collaboration between the federal and state governments had strengthened fiscal stability and governance across the country.
He said he was pleased that subnational governments were now able to meet salary obligations without the financial pressures previously experienced, attributing the progress to ongoing economic and policy reforms.
According to him, the current administration has worked to build trust and promote cooperation among stakeholders, particularly state governors, in driving national development priorities.
The president also referenced infrastructure development opportunities across the country, citing the Sokoto–Badagry corridor as an example of areas with significant potential for irrigation, agriculture, and power generation.

Tinubu commended the governors for their support and engagement with his administration, saying their partnership has contributed to stabilising governance and improving financial management at the state level.
He reiterated his appreciation for what he described as collective efforts aimed at strengthening economic recovery and ensuring smoother implementation of development programmes across the federation.
