Three governorship aspirants on Friday contested for the governorship ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State ahead of the next general elections.
The aspirants are Blessing Fubara, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, and Fafadam Princewill.
The development comes as the NDC clarified that its presidential, National Assembly, governorship, and State House of Assembly primaries would proceed nationwide on Friday in line with the party’s original timetable.
Sources within the party told journalists that voting and collation processes were ongoing in Rivers State as delegates cast their ballots to determine the party’s governorship candidate.
As of the time of filing this report, the final results of the governorship primary had yet to be officially announced.
The Rivers governorship contest is expected to shape the party’s political strategy in the state ahead of the general elections.
