The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a five-hour electricity outage in Bida and neighbouring communities in Niger State to allow engineers to carry out scheduled maintenance at the Bida 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
According to TCN, the maintenance is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The company disclosed this in a statement posted on its official X account, explaining that its maintenance team would conduct preventive work on a 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and other associated switchgear at the substation.

TCN said the exercise would temporarily affect electricity distribution to communities supplied by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company.
Areas expected to experience the outage include Bida town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba Goshigi, Lafiyagi Essa, Amgulu, Mansantali, Agaie Town, Low Cost and Masaga, alongside surrounding villages.
The company said electricity supply would resume in the affected communities once the maintenance work is completed.
TCN apologised to residents and other electricity consumers for the inconvenience resulting from the planned interruption.

It explained that the maintenance forms part of its routine preventive maintenance programme designed to strengthen the reliability and stability of the national transmission network.
The company said such scheduled interventions are necessary to identify and address potential equipment faults before they develop into major failures that could disrupt electricity supply for longer periods.
