One person has reportedly been killed and several buildings destroyed following renewed violence involving youths from Aguleri and Anam communities in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The clash reportedly broke out at about 6 p.m. on Thursday amid a long-running boundary dispute between the neighbouring communities.
The deceased, whose identity had not been officially disclosed, was said to be from Umueze-Anam.

A community source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, claimed the latest confrontation followed the erection of a signpost on a disputed portion of land.
According to the source, residents of Aguleri objected to the signpost, maintaining that the land belonged to their community, while residents on the Anam side disputed the claim.
The source alleged that more than 100 youths subsequently moved into the area, where gunfire was heard, and several buildings were damaged.
During the violence, one youth from Umueze-Anam was reportedly killed, while others were said to have sustained injuries.
The claims concerning who initiated the confrontation and ownership of the disputed land had not been independently established.
Security personnel were subsequently deployed to the affected area to prevent further violence.
A large contingent of soldiers and police officers was reported to have cordoned off parts of the area as security agencies worked to restore calm.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, could not immediately be reached for official confirmation.
However, a senior police officer confirmed that security personnel had been deployed and said the situation had been brought under control.

“The area is calm now because our men have taken over the area,” the officer said, adding that anyone found responsible for criminal acts would face prosecution.
Authorities had yet to release an official account detailing the cause of the clash, the number of people injured or the extent of property destroyed.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the violence are expected to establish responsibility for the death and destruction, while security personnel remain in the area to prevent further escalation.
