The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, has thrown his weight behind the 2027 re-election bid of the Member representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Clement Jimbo, describing him as a worthy ambassador and pride of the constituency.
Speaker Otong made the declaration on Sunday when the federal lawmaker and members of his campaign organisation paid him a consultative visit at his residence in Abak Itenge, Abak Local Government Area.
The visit formed part of ongoing consultations by Rep. Jimbo ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the meeting, the Speaker said the lawmaker’s performance and experience as a ranking member of the National Assembly place him in a better position to attract greater benefits to the constituency if re-elected.

He expressed confidence in Jimbo’s capacity to continue providing effective representation and assured him of his support and blessings as he seeks another mandate from the people.
“Clement Jimbo is a pride to Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Federal Constituency. As a ranking member of the National Assembly, he will certainly do better if given another opportunity to serve,” the Speaker reportedly stated.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Clement Jimbo Campaign Organisation and former Chairman of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Hon. Udeme Eduo, said the delegation visited the Speaker to formally consult him and seek his support for the lawmaker’s second-term ambition.
Eduo noted that Jimbo’s performance during his first term had earned him the confidence and support of the people, adding that his re-election would further strengthen the constituency’s voice at the federal level.
He highlighted the lawmaker’s contributions to legislative representation and constituency development, describing him as a bridge between the constituency and the centre.
In his remarks, Rep. Jimbo said the visit was aimed at officially informing the Speaker of his intention to seek re-election and to obtain his blessings and guidance.

The federal lawmaker thanked the Speaker for receiving the delegation and appreciated his commitment to supporting his political aspiration.
Jimbo pledged to continue providing quality representation and to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people of the constituency.
