The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Udeme Otong, has commended Senate President Godswill Akpabio for facilitating the execution of key infrastructure projects across the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
Speaker Otong, accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Margaret Otong, President of LEWA, joined the inauguration of the projects on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
The projects commissioned include a 12-classroom storey building at McIntire Secondary Commercial School, Utu Abak; the Usung Idim Ibagwa Road; Itung Road with street lighting; a power transformer installed at Itung Village; Adaha Ayam Farm Road in Midim; Ikot Odiong Road; and the Ikwek–Afaha Obong Farming Community Road.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremonies, Otong described the projects as strategic interventions that would improve the quality of life in rural communities by enhancing access to education, transportation, electricity and agricultural infrastructure.
He said the projects complement the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno and would contribute to economic growth, improved rural connectivity and increased opportunities for residents across the senatorial district.
The Speaker also pledged the support of the people of Abak State Constituency for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno, saying continuity would help sustain ongoing development initiatives and expand the delivery of democratic dividends.
Representing the Senate President at the event, Dr Ekaette Unoma Akpabio reaffirmed his commitment to attracting more developmental projects to the district. She said efforts would continue to focus on improving road infrastructure, strengthening rural electrification, boosting agricultural productivity and creating greater economic opportunities for communities.
She also appealed to residents to continue supporting President Tinubu, Senator Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno.
The commissioning ceremonies were attended by traditional rulers, political leaders, women and youth groups, as well as other residents who gathered to witness the inauguration of the projects.
