Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over his visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Sowore made the comments in a post on his official X handle on Thursday, August 20, 2026, while reacting to photographs of Adeleke’s meeting with Tinubu.

The AAC chieftain alleged that the meeting between the two politicians was a political understanding, which he claimed had now been sealed following Adeleke’s visit to the President.

Sowore also raised concerns over the violence reportedly associated with the Osun State governorship election, alleging that nearly 50 residents had lost their lives in election-related incidents.

He further claimed that another person was killed on Wednesday near the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, linking the alleged incident to Adeleke’s political activities.

The AAC presidential candidate also criticised Adeleke’s political relationship with Tinubu, suggesting that the meeting could have implications for political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, the allegations of nearly 50 deaths made by Sowore were not independently verified in the report.

Adeleke had visited Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, days after securing re-election as Osun State governor. He subsequently presented his certificate of return to the President during the closed-door meeting.
