The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted operational licences to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for the establishment and operation of medical clinics designated to cater to Nigerian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The approval, issued by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health, authorises NAHCON’s medical personnel to begin healthcare services for pilgrims in the holy land.

NAHCON disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, explaining that the clinics and medical outposts were strategically positioned to provide essential healthcare services, including medical consultations, first aid and treatment of minor illnesses for Nigerian pilgrims.

According to the commission, pilgrims seeking treatment at any of the facilities would be required to present their Nusuk Card, along with their International Passport, for proper identification and medical documentation.

The commission further stated that cases requiring specialised or secondary medical attention would be referred to accredited Saudi healthcare institutions such as King Fahd Hospital and other designated hospitals across the Kingdom.

NAHCON also confirmed that its clinic in Madinah had already been fully operational for the past four days, offering medical support to Nigerian pilgrims currently residing in the city.

The licensed facilities include the NAHCON Clinic located in the Shara Sittin Area at Hotel Humaira on Umm Al-Qura Street near the Old Al-Maatani Petrol Station in Makkah; the clinic in the Misfalah, Al-Tadwa Area at Maatouq Al Qarhi Hotel behind Millennium Hotel on Ibrahim Khalil Street; and the Mansour Street Area clinic situated at Niger House No. 1 behind Muasasat Alnaqd in Makkah.

The commission described the licensing approval as a major milestone in preparations for the 2026 Hajj operations, noting that it reflects its commitment to protecting the health and well-being of Nigerian pilgrims throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Abdulkadir, as Amirul Hajj for Kano State’s 2026 pilgrimage exercise.

The Emir of Karaye, Muhammad Maharaz, was also appointed as Deputy Amirul Hajj.

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has been directed to provide the necessary support to the Amirul Hajj team to ensure a smooth and successful pilgrimage operation.

The state government also recalled that Governor Yusuf had earlier donated 200 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim from Kano State as part of efforts to support them during their stay in the Holy Land.

The airlift of Kano pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise is expected to commence on Thursday, May 14, through Max Air.
