About 30 robots have staged an unusual demonstration outside Poland’s Digital Affairs Ministry in Warsaw, calling for stronger regulation of artificial intelligence and clearer rules on the impact of automation on jobs.
The robots marched in circles, waved flags and broadcast slogans including “we want law, we want rules,” as part of a protest organised by Democratism, an initiative focused on raising public debate about how artificial intelligence and robotics are transforming the labour market.
The demonstration featured different types of machines, including humanoid robots and robot dogs, in an effort to highlight the rapid development of robotic technology and the growing role of AI in workplaces.
Organiser Grzegorz Kulis said the protest was aimed at drawing attention to concerns that artificial intelligence and humanoid robots could eventually replace human workers in some sectors, particularly in jobs involving cognitive tasks.
“We want rules and regulations that will protect workers,” Kulis said, warning that governments needed to act before technological changes created deeper challenges for employment.
Poland’s Digital Affairs Minister, Krzysztof Gawkowski, met with organisers during the demonstration and acknowledged concerns over uncontrolled development of artificial intelligence systems, particularly as humanoid robots continue to become more advanced.
The event, while symbolic, highlighted growing global debates over AI governance, workplace automation and the need to balance technological progress with protections for workers.
