Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have rescued three abducted children and arrested two suspected child traffickers in a swift operation in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.
The rescue followed a distress call received by the police on Wednesday evening reporting the alleged abduction of three children along Ekparakwa Village.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, detectives immediately launched a coordinated operation, blocking strategic entry and exit routes within the area to track down the suspects and recover the victims.
The operation led to the interception of a minibus with registration number 830 PH, where the missing children were found during a search of the vehicle.
Police said the children were rescued unharmed, while two suspects were arrested at the scene.
The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Johnny, 39, from Ikot Itokpo Village in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area but resident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Ifiok Umoh, 28, from Ikot Ikpene Village in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
The Command confirmed that the rescued children have since been reunited with their families, while the suspects remain in custody pending further investigation.
Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare commended the operatives for their swift response and praised members of the public whose timely information contributed to the successful rescue.
He directed detectives to carry out a comprehensive investigation aimed at uncovering and dismantling any wider child trafficking network linked to the suspects.

The police boss reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating child trafficking, abduction, and other criminal activities across the state.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies, assuring that all intelligence received would be treated with strict confidentiality.
