The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the theft and unlawful possession of a stolen tricycle, while another suspect was apprehended during a raid that led to the recovery of suspected illicit drugs and other items.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Uyo.
According to the statement, the owner of a TVS tricycle with registration number AFG 094 WZ reported that the vehicle was stolen from his residence in Afaha Itam, Itu Local Government Area. The tricycle was said to be valued at about ₦1 million at the time of purchase.
Following the complaint, police operatives commenced intelligence-led investigations and deployed surveillance teams to strategic tricycle parks and loading points within and outside the area.

The operation led to the arrest of Dominic Edet, who was allegedly found in possession of the stolen tricycle. The vehicle was subsequently recovered by the police.
Further investigations resulted in the arrest of another suspect, Asuquo Etim, who allegedly purchased the tricycle from a person currently at large. Preliminary findings indicated that the stolen vehicle was sold for ₦1.8 million.
In a separate operation targeting criminal hideouts across the state, police operatives raided Ikot Ekwere Ubium Village, where they arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Idorenyin Akpan.
The police said a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a wrap of crystal methamphetamine, popularly known as “Ice”, a toy revolver pistol, a hammer, a pair of pliers, a clay pot containing suspected fetish materials, a small rubber container, a bottle containing a liquid substance suspected to be used for ritual purposes, and an animal horn.

Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that criminal elements are brought to justice.
He commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and dedication and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
The Command reiterated its resolve to deny criminals a haven and sustain efforts aimed at maintaining peace and security across Akwa Ibom State.
Police said investigations into the cases are ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend other suspects linked to the alleged crimes.
