The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate reported attacks, threats and disruptions involving members of the party, particularly the recent incident in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The call was made during a media briefing by an ADC stakeholder and former Rivers State Commissioner, Dr Leloonu Nwibubasa.
Rismadarvoice reporter gathered that Nwibubasa urged the police to provide adequate security for all legally recognised political parties and their activities without discrimination or political considerations.
He also called for clear operational guidelines for policing political gatherings in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for neutrality, professionalism and proportionality in the handling of political activities.
The former Commissioner for Economy and Empowerment Generation further urged political parties in Rivers State to develop a common framework for peaceful political competition and improved electoral security.
Nwibubasa appealed to ADC members and supporters not to allow provocation to undermine their commitment to democratic change.
He urged them to remain peaceful, disciplined and law-abiding while pursuing their political objectives.
