The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a security guard, Emmanuel Ojo, over the alleged theft of two generators valued at ₦950,000 from his employer in Akure.
Police said Ojo allegedly used his position as a security guard to gain access to the generators, comprising one Fireman generator and one Honda generator, before leaving Ondo State.
Following a complaint by his employer, detectives launched a search for the suspect and subsequently traced him to Ogun State, where he was arrested.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Abayomi Jimoh, said the suspect provided information to investigators during questioning.
According to the police spokesperson, Ojo was charged to court following the completion of the investigation.
In a separate operation, the command arrested two men suspected of belonging to the Eiye Confraternity in Ondo town.
The suspects were identified as Yusuf Taye, 30, and Damilola Ojo, 23.
Police said they were arrested on Loro Street and Temidire Street respectively, following intelligence received by detectives.
Investigators subsequently obtained and executed a search warrant at Damilola Ojo’s residence, where police said they recovered a small axe, two live cartridges and a parcel containing a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
Jimoh said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to the Eiye Confraternity, adding that the two men reportedly admitted their affiliation during questioning.
The suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the command’s Anti-Cultism Squad in Akure for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The police command reiterated its commitment to tackling cultism, violent crime and other criminal activities across Ondo State.
It also urged young people to avoid cult groups and violent associations and advised residents to provide credible information that could assist the police in preventing and investigating crimes.
