Operatives of the Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Edo State Security Corps, have arrested 12 suspected cultists at Amazing Grace Estate in Elele Community, Uzairue, Auchi, Edo North Senatorial District.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested on May 7, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m. following a swift response by security operatives to credible intelligence.

Police alleged that the suspects had mobilised from Okpella to launch attacks on perceived rival groups before they were intercepted and arrested.
The suspects were identified as Abiola Anabgaifo, 33; Idogo Joshua, 28; Oseni Sani, 22; Aminu Abubakar, 19; Iyamah Precious, 29; Usman Rapheal, 29; Ogene Jude, 31; Ibrahim Akeem, 27; Tunde Bright, 20; Jude Edeh, 21; Godwin Edeh, 19; and Aigbona Clifford, 20.
The police said preliminary investigations revealed that seven of the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of cult groups, including the Aye and Vikings confraternities.
Security operatives also recovered a grey Mercedes-Benz Jeep with registration number GWA 471 DS, said to belong to one Balogun Isreal, who is currently at large.
The statement added that all the suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, commended the professionalism and swift response of the operatives involved in the operation.

He reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain the crackdown on cultism and other violent crimes across the state.
The Command also warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or leave the state, stressing that security agencies remain committed to protecting lives and property.
