The Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strongly worded statement condemning comments made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing his recent public outing as an exhibition of “political rascality” and “post-loss trauma.”
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party accused Wike of using a media platform to launch unwarranted attacks against prominent Nigerians, alleging that his remarks lacked substance and decorum.
The PDP leadership characterised the minister’s comments as “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing,” adding that his actions reflected a decline in political civility. While noting that the statement was not intended as a direct response to Wike, the party described his outburst as a “political swan song.”

The statement also included what it termed an apology to Nigerians, expressing regret over the party’s past role in elevating Wike to positions of influence, including governor and minister. It suggested that such decisions had contributed to what it called “damage to the psyche of countless Nigerians.”
Furthermore, the PDP urged individuals allegedly defamed by the minister to seek legal redress, emphasising that no individual should be above the law.
Addressing internal party dynamics, the leadership dismissed any claim by Wike to a dominant position within the party, stating that the role of “National Leader” does not exist within its constitutional framework. It argued that even if such a position existed, Wike’s conduct would disqualify him.
The statement also touched on ongoing party activities, including the sale of nomination forms and preparations for primaries ahead of a national convention. The PDP maintained that these processes would proceed as planned, despite what it described as attempts by Wike to undermine them.
On legal matters referenced by the minister, the party said it was awaiting Certified True Copies of court judgments related to dismissed cross-appeals and challenged Wike to clarify the details of those cases publicly.

Reaffirming its stance, the PDP said that “no amount of threats will frighten the truth,” asserting that while misinformation may spread quickly, it would not diminish the eventual impact of facts.
