The Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Akwa Ibom State, has commenced its Educational Excursion Programme (EEP) for students in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET), as part of efforts to strengthen practical learning and industry exposure.
The initiative according to management is designed to provide students with hands-on industrial experience under the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), enabling them to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world engineering practice.

They said, the programme also aims to familiarise participants with operational and administrative systems within relevant industries aligned with their various engineering disciplines.
FUTIA management said the excursion reflects the institution’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates equipped with both technical knowledge and practical competence.
As part of the programme, the university expressed appreciation to Jimcol Resources Nigeria Limited, an oil servicing firm based in Port Harcourt, for hosting and training the first batch of students participating in the exercise.

The students were accompanied by key academic staff, including Engr. Enefiok Usungurua, Excursion Coordinator for SEET; Engr. Inuaeyen Inuaeyen, Head of Department, Petroleum and Gas Engineering; and Mr Godwin Okoye of the same department.
