The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned what it described as the deliberate distortion of judicial pronouncements by individuals who are parading themselves as the party’s Interim National Working Committee.
In a statement issued on June 6, 2026, by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Haruna Mohammed Jungudo, the party expressed concern over a recent press release credited to Comrade Ini Ememobong, alleging that portions of a Court of Appeal judgment had been misinterpreted and misrepresented for partisan purposes.
The PDP described the development as a serious threat to the integrity of the judiciary and the administration of justice, particularly expressing displeasure that legal practitioners, including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, were allegedly involved in circulating misleading interpretations of the court’s decision.

According to the party, the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on June 3, 2026, and certified on June 5, 2026, clearly speaks for itself and does not support the narratives being circulated in the public space.
The PDP clarified that the Court did not nullify the legality of the party’s Caretaker Committee, noting instead that the appeal was dismissed as an academic exercise, while the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, delivered on January 30, 2026, remains valid and binding.
The party further stated that at no point did the Court of Appeal make any pronouncement regarding certain individuals whose names are being referenced in the disputed interpretations.
It also raised concerns over the circulation of altered excerpts of the judgment on social media, warning that such actions could mislead the public and undermine confidence in the judiciary.
The PDP called on security agencies to investigate the source of the circulated materials, while urging the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to take disciplinary action against any legal practitioners found to have misrepresented court rulings.

The party also cautioned media organisations to verify court judgments before publication, stressing the need for professionalism and accuracy in reporting legal matters.
Reaffirming its position, the PDP urged the public to disregard what it described as false narratives suggesting any invalidation of its current National Working Committee.
