Two people have lost their lives in separate incidents involving a truck crash and a building collapse in Lagos State according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

The agency disclosed that one victim died following a partial collapse of a three-storey building under construction in Lekki Phase 1 on Friday, while another succumbed to injuries sustained in a truck accident along Old Abeokuta Road inward Abattoir on Thursday night.

LASEMA said the truck, carrying a 40-foot container, reportedly suffered brake failure before colliding head-on with a Toyota Highlander. The driver of the SUV sustained severe injuries and was rescued from the wreckage but later died.

In the Lekki incident, emergency responders rescued seven persons alive, recovered one body, and continued search operations for another individual reported missing beneath the rubble.

The agency said rescue and recovery efforts were carried out in collaboration with other emergency services, while investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
