More than 1.7 million Nigerians are currently receiving treatment for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) across the country, according to the latest figures released by the National Data Repository (NDR).
The data, released on May 13, 2026, showed that a total of 1.70 million people are presently on HIV treatment nationwide.
Benue State recorded the highest number of patients receiving treatment with 195,305 cases, followed by Akwa Ibom State with 158,201 patients and Lagos State with 135,918.

Rivers State recorded 90,055 patients on treatment, while Nasarawa had 65,996 and the Federal Capital Territory accounted for 62,627 patients.
Other states with high treatment figures include Kaduna with 58,576 patients, Cross River with 57,765, Enugu with 55,478, and Delta with 52,475.
Taraba recorded 51,840 patients, Abia 50,038, Imo 47,863, Plateau 46,618, and Anambra 46,602.
Adamawa State had 42,074 patients receiving treatment, Kano recorded 41,093, Kogi 37,301, Oyo 33,133, and Niger 33,057.
According to the repository, Ogun State recorded 31,822 patients, Bauchi 29,745, Edo 29,256, Gombe 28,037, and Osun 25,018.
Borno State had 24,527 patients, Ondo 22,455, Kebbi 20,803, Bayelsa 19,549, and Katsina 18,682.
Ebonyi recorded 15,474 patients, Kwara 14,997, Jigawa 14,302, Zamfara 13,813, Ekiti 12,356, Yobe 10,716, and Sokoto 10,511 patients currently receiving HIV treatment.

The National Data Repository said the figures reflect the scale of ongoing treatment coverage and HIV response efforts across Nigeria.
