Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo, describing his passing as a profound loss to Abia State and Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The governor made the remarks on Thursday during the funeral service held in honour of the late actor in Arochukwu, Abia State.
The service was conducted by Streams of Joy International and attracted family members, friends, entertainers, and well-wishers from across the country.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, Governor Otti said Alex Ekubo was more than a successful entertainer; he was a cultural ambassador who projected the image of Abia State and Nigeria positively on the global stage through his talent, professionalism, and dedication to his craft.
According to the governor, the late actor consistently carried his roots with pride and demonstrated that determination, discipline, and hard work could help young people achieve greatness regardless of their background.
He noted that Ekubo’s journey from Arochukwu to becoming one of Africa’s most recognisable screen stars remains a source of inspiration to countless aspiring actors and youths across the country.
“Alex possessed the rare gift of connecting with people through his performances. He brought joy to many homes, inspired young people, and proved that excellence and dedication can open doors to extraordinary opportunities,” the governor said.
Governor Otti further encouraged the Ekubo-Okwaraeke family, the people of Arochukwu, and members of the Nigerian creative industry to remain strong in the face of the painful loss and find comfort in God during the difficult period.
