Osun State has a registered voting population of more than 2.3 million for the 2026 governorship election, with over 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected by eligible voters.
Here are the key figures shaping the election:
- Estimated population: 4.1 million
- Registered voters: 2,339,233
- PVCs collected: 1,906,390 – 81.50%
- Uncollected PVCs: 432,843 – 18.50%
- Replacement/downloadable PVCs issued: 6,101
- Polling units: 3,010
- Wards: 322
- Local Government Areas: 30
With 81.5 per cent of registered voters having collected their PVCs, turnout and the ability of voters to access polling units remain crucial factors in determining the outcome.
The 432,843 uncollected PVCs also represent a substantial bloc of registered voters who may not be able to participate, while the 6,101 replacement PVCs issued through the downloadable system could help some voters affected by damaged, defaced or lost cards.
The figures show the scale of the election across 30 LGAs, 322 wards and 3,010 polling units, making effective logistics, security and the smooth deployment of election technology critical to the credibility of the exercise that took place in the state earlier today.
