Lawyers representing Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as OdumoduBlvck, have petitioned the Lagos State Police Command over an alleged attempt to arrest the musician in the early hours of August 29, 2026.
The petition, dated August 31 and signed by Marshal Attorneys, was addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos State Police Command.
According to the lawyers, police officers allegedly arrived at about 3:00 a.m. and attempted to take the musician into custody with an invitation letter purportedly issued by the police command.
The legal team said the alleged arrest attempt occurred despite an earlier response to a police invitation issued to their client.
They further claimed that the Inspector General of Police’s office was already handling the matter through its Monitoring Unit.
The lawyers also disclosed that a related case is currently before an Abuja Magistrate Court, arguing that the ongoing police investigation should be handled within the appropriate legal framework while the matter is before the court.
In the petition, the lawyers said the officers allegedly “swooped on” their client in the early hours of August 29 with an invitation letter.
They also alleged that one of their lawyers had previously disputed the authorship of the invitation letter presented by the officers.
The legal team consequently requested an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
“We request that you cause an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actions complained of herein,” the lawyers stated.
They further urged the Lagos State Police Command to defer to the Inspector General of Police’s office, which they said had already commenced handling the matter.
