Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has announced a global digital town hall where he plans to discuss his campaign’s approach to protecting votes ahead of the 2027 general election.

The online event, titled “A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall,” is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, at 7:00 p.m. West Africa Time and is expected to involve Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

Obi said the meeting was organised in response to questions he had received from supporters about how votes would be protected during the election and how his political movement intends to pursue victory.

He said the session would provide an opportunity to explain the campaign’s plans while also receiving suggestions from participants.

Obi said discussions would focus on protecting votes and what he described as the path to electoral victory, stressing that the meeting would be interactive rather than a one-way political address.

According to the former Anambra State governor, feedback from Nigerians would contribute to decisions on the movement’s next steps.

“This movement has always been built by you, and your ideas will shape what we do next,” Obi said.

Participation in the digital town hall will be through prior registration.

The planned engagement comes as political parties, candidates and their supporters intensify preparations ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

Questions surrounding election-day monitoring, polling-unit representation and the protection of legally cast votes are expected to remain prominent as the election approaches.

Obi’s statements on securing votes and achieving victory represent his campaign’s stated objectives ahead of the election; the outcome will ultimately be determined through the electoral process.
