The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website falsely claiming that a new nationwide online voter registration exercise is underway.

The commission said the platform circulating online claims that voter registration would run from September 28 to October 27, 2026.

INEC described the website as fake and said it has no affiliation with the commission.

The electoral body warned Nigerians against visiting the platform or submitting personal information through it, saying doing so could expose users to the risk of having sensitive personal data harvested or misused.

INEC also clarified that the voter registration exercise had closed on July 26, 2026, dismissing claims that a new nationwide online registration exercise was currently taking place through the fraudulent platform.

The commission urged members of the public to remain vigilant and verify information concerning elections and voter registration through its official communication channels.

It advised Nigerians to disregard the fraudulent website and avoid providing personal details on unverified platforms claiming to represent the electoral body.

INEC said members of the public seeking clarification could contact its Citizens Contact Centre through 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632), short code 4632, or its designated direct telephone lines.

The commission reiterated that electoral information should be obtained only through verified INEC channels to reduce the risk of misinformation and misuse of personal data.
