Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, says his partnership with the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is focused on expanding the party’s grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi stated this after hosting Kwankwaso and other NDC candidates, including governorship and senatorial candidates from various states, at the Obidient Headquarters in Abuja.
He said the meeting focused on strategies to deepen the party’s reach and take its message of “national redemption” to rural communities and the hinterlands across the country.
Obi also assured the candidates of his continued support in their respective states and constituencies, promising to work with them and undertake the groundwork required to secure victory for the party.
The former Anambra State governor described his partnership with Kwankwaso as an effort to “rescue Nigeria” from what he termed calamitous and ineffective leadership.
He said an NDC administration would prioritise lifting vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty, reducing the number of out-of-school children, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, strengthening national security, promoting national unity and transitioning Nigeria from consumption to production.
Obi expressed optimism about the party’s prospects, declaring that “a New Nigeria is possible” and that “Nigeria will be OK.”
