The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has condemned the killing of Kano-based social media commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, and called for a thorough investigation.
Obi, in a statement on his X account on Friday, urged the Kano State Government and security agencies to ensure that everyone involved in the killing is brought to justice.

Dan Shagamu was reportedly attacked and killed at his residence in Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, on Monday night.
The Kano State Police Command said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to the police, the attack occurred around 11:30pm after the local Vigilante Group Commander reported that unknown assailants had forcibly entered the commentator’s home and attacked him with sharp objects.
Police officers from the Kumbotso Division responded and took him to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The command said the suspects were being interrogated, while forensic procedures were underway to establish the circumstances and motive behind the attack.

Reacting, Obi said political disagreements, criticism or differences of opinion should never be used to justify violence.
He urged the authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation and prosecute those found responsible.
Obi also expressed condolences to Dan Shagamu’s family, friends, colleagues and followers, while calling for the protection of freedom of expression in the country.
