The NNPC Foundation Ltd./Gte has continued its corporate social responsibility drive on youth empowerment with the training of Batch A, Stream 2 corps members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

The programme, held over the weekend at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, marks the second phase of the Foundation’s 2026 nationwide initiative aimed at equipping young graduates with practical business and financial management skills.

Implemented in collaboration with the NYSC’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) scheme, the training featured modules on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and business development. Participants also undertook a financial literacy test, a “Kick Start My Business” course, and business proposal pitching sessions designed to foster innovation and enterprise.

Managing Director of the NNPC Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, represented by the Head of Programme Management, Rose Okonkwo, disclosed that the initiative has reached over one million corps members across the country.

She reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths with the knowledge and tools required for financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the event, Acting Director of SAED, Usman Yahaya, commended the NNPC Foundation for its sustained partnership and impact. He urged corps members to take advantage of the training by acquiring multiple skills during their service year, emphasising the need to transition from job seekers to job creators.

The initiative builds on previous interventions by the Foundation. In 2025, no fewer than 531 youths benefited from starter packs and financial support to launch businesses, with many reporting measurable growth in their ventures.

Through its financial literacy programme, the NNPC Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in preparing young Nigerians for self-reliance, while contributing to broader national economic growth and development.
