The Nigerian Navy has distanced itself from a recruitment notice circulating on social media, which claims to announce the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise
The Navy described the notice as unauthorised and urged members of the public, particularly prospective applicants, to disregard it.
The Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
According to him, the recruitment notice currently in circulation was not issued or approved by the Nigerian Navy and should not be regarded as an official announcement.
He advised prospective applicants to rely only on information released through the Navy’s authorised communication channels for details concerning recruitment, including eligibility criteria, application procedures, timelines and available categories.
The Navy also warned members of the public against obtaining recruitment information from unverified social media accounts, websites or other unofficial platforms.
It stated that its official recruitment portal is joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, while general information about the service can be obtained through navy.mil.ng.
The Navy further cautioned applicants against making payments to individuals, agents or third-party platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the exercise is free.
It added that no individual or organisation had been authorised to recruit candidates or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.
The Nigerian Navy said it remained committed to ensuring a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide accurate and timely updates through its official channels.
