An employee shuttle bus crash at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey has left 13 people injured after the vehicle struck a concrete barrier in the early hours of Monday.
The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m. on the Terminal B Departures Level 3 roadway, according to local reports. Emergency responders, including the Port Authority Police Department, arrived at the scene as authorities began clearing the affected area.
Three people sustained serious injuries, while 10 others suffered minor injuries. Authorities said none of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening, and the injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.
Images from the crash scene showed the shuttle bus badly damaged, with its front section crushed against the concrete barrier and glass from the windshield and doors shattered. Police tape was placed around the area as emergency crews carried out rescue operations and investigations.
The crash led to the temporary closure of the Terminal B Departures Level 3 roadway while crews removed debris and secured the area. Passengers departing from Terminal B were advised to use Level 2 for drop-offs during the emergency response.
Authorities have not released the cause of the crash, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
