The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted screening committees for aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for the various State Houses of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed this in a memo jointly signed by its National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu Esq., announcing that the screening exercise will commence on Saturday, May 23, and end on Monday, May 25, 2026.

According to the memo, separate screening committees have been established for all 36 states of the federation to supervise the exercise.
The NDC stated that aspirants would be assessed based on character, competence, electoral viability and commitment to the growth of the party.
It added that only financially up-to-date members who can demonstrate active contributions to the party would qualify to purchase nomination forms.
The party further stressed that aspirants must meet constitutional requirements for the offices they seek and must not have any criminal record or be undergoing investigation or trial by anti-corruption agencies.
The NDC also warned against acts of violence and intimidation during the screening process, noting that any aspirant who arrives at the venue with thugs or miscreants risks immediate disqualification.

According to the party, each state screening committee comprises three members, a Chairman, a Secretary and one Member.
The full list of committee members for the 36 states was attached to the memo.
