Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has sparked fresh conversations after officially changing his birth date from November 18 to November 30 effectively ending the long-shared birthday with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
The adjustment, though symbolic, is being widely interpreted as another sign of deepening distance between the twin brothers, once celebrated as the iconic duo P-Square.
P-Square, formed by the Okoye twins, dominated the African music scene for over a decade before their first major split in 2017. The breakup followed prolonged family disputes and disagreements over management, forcing both artists to pursue solo careers under the names Mr P and Rudeboy.
In a surprising turn, the brothers reunited in November 2021, marking their 40th birthday together and thrilling fans with a comeback tour that reignited nostalgia for their signature sound and choreography.
However, the reunion proved short-lived. In 2024, Paul Okoye confirmed in an interview that the group had once again parted ways, citing irreconcilable differences. Among the issues referenced were disputes linked to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), signaling deeper personal and professional tensions.
Mr P’s decision to alter his birth date is now seen by observers as more than a personal preference it underscores what appears to be a definitive close to one of Africa’s most successful musical partnerships.
Neither artist has publicly framed the date change as a direct statement on their relationship.
