French President Emmanuel Macron attended the International Space Summit in Paris on Thursday, where he was expected to hold a conversation with French astronaut Sophie Adenot, who is currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
The summit, hosted in Paris on September 9 and 10, brought together government leaders, space agencies, astronauts, scientists and industry executives to discuss the future of global space cooperation, innovation and security.
Macron has used the event to promote greater European cooperation in space and strengthen France’s role in the rapidly growing space sector. The meeting comes as Europe seeks to expand its capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign space infrastructure.
Sophie Adenot, a European Space Agency astronaut, has been involved in ISS activities and has taken part in discussions with officials and the public from orbit.
The Paris summit has attracted representatives from dozens of countries and major players in the space industry, focusing on scientific advancement, technological development and international partnerships.
