Hull City secured a 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, while Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Fulham in the Premier League.
Chelsea took an early lead when Morgan Rogers fired into the near post after seven minutes, but Hull responded through Mohamed Belloumi, who levelled with a volley after Chelsea failed to deal with a cross.
Belloumi struck again after the break, with his effort taking a deflection following a Chelsea corner.
Joao Pedro restored parity for the hosts shortly after the hour mark, drilling Cole Palmer’s cross into the top corner.
Chelsea pressed for a winner but could not break down Hull, who continued their impressive return to the Premier League.
The result moved Hull into third place, behind defending champions Arsenal and Manchester City.
At Anfield, Liverpool were frustrated by Fulham in a 0-0 draw, with the Reds unable to make their attacking options count.
Liverpool remain unbeaten under manager Andoni Iraola but were booed by sections of the home crowd after failing to claim victory.
Fulham, managed by former Liverpool defender Xabi Alonso-era colleague Alvaro Arbeloa, created the clearer opportunities, with Alisson Becker producing an important save to deny Josh King.
The draw was Fulham’s first point under Arbeloa, who had lost his opening three league matches in charge.
Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest defeated Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park, leaving Villa rooted in the relegation zone.
Liam Delap gave Forest the lead with a long-range effort before Alysson equalised for Villa. Igor Jesus then scored the winner to give Oliver Glasner his first victory as Forest manager.
Crystal Palace’s difficult start continued with a 3-2 home defeat to Ipswich, while Brentford drew 2-2 with Bournemouth to maintain their unbeaten start.
Tottenham were scheduled to host Everton later on Saturday, while Manchester United and Manchester City were set to meet in Sunday’s Manchester derby.
