The Lagos State House of Assembly has warned job seekers, contractors and prospective vendors against paying individuals who claim they can secure employment, appointments or contracts with the legislature.
The Assembly, in a public disclaimer issued on Thursday, said it does not demand or accept payments, fees or gratification in exchange for jobs, contract awards, procurement opportunities or other official benefits.
According to the statement signed by the Clerk of the House, recruitment, procurement, tendering and related processes are conducted through established statutory procedures and communicated through authorised channels.
The Assembly urged members of the public to be wary of anyone demanding money while claiming to act on its behalf.
It warned that payments made to such individuals were at the payer’s risk and that the legislature would not accept responsibility for losses arising from fraudulent transactions.
The House added that individuals found soliciting or collecting money in connection with purported jobs, contracts or other opportunities involving the Assembly would be reported to relevant law enforcement agencies for investigation and possible prosecution.
It advised members of the public to rely exclusively on authorised communication channels for information concerning recruitment, procurement, tendering and other official activities.
