The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched an online discount platform offering serving military personnel, veterans and their families access to essential goods and services at reduced prices.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, unveiled the Armed Forces of Nigeria Personnel Online Discount Shop in Abuja, describing the initiative as part of efforts to strengthen the welfare of military personnel and their families.
Akume said military welfare should extend beyond operational effectiveness, noting that a motivated Armed Forces requires sustained attention to the economic and social well-being of personnel.
According to a statement by his Head of Information, Chris Ugwuegbulam, the platform forms part of the Federal Government’s welfare framework aimed at easing financial pressure on serving personnel, veterans and their households.
The initiative will operate digitally through Konga in partnership with Zinox Group, allowing eligible beneficiaries to access discounted products through the online platform.
As part of the arrangement, Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide a framework for sustained cooperation on the initiative.
Akume commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General O.O. Oluyede, Defence Headquarters and other stakeholders involved in developing the programme.
He urged those responsible for managing the platform to ensure transparency and effective implementation while encouraging eligible serving personnel and veterans to take advantage of the initiative.
