Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL) has inaugurated key infrastructure projects in Osun State, including a rehabilitated road network and a community-owned water production facility in Ijesaland, as part of its community development commitments.

The projects were unveiled during a visit by the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup (Ajimoko III), who toured the company’s operations in Odo-Ijesa to assess ongoing development initiatives in the area.

According to a statement by the company, the monarch was received by the Deputy General Manager of SROL, Mr Olusola Olusomidomo, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Segun Lawson.

During the visit, the traditional ruler inspected several facilities, including the Segilola Gold Mine, the Ogere-Ekun Golden Water Factory in Iperindo, and the LRP Ifesowapo Fish Market.

SROL explained that the projects form part of its Community Development Agreement (CDA) obligations aimed at improving infrastructure, promoting economic empowerment, and supporting sustainable growth in host communities.

The company noted that the interventions have contributed to job creation, with over 80 indigenes directly employed, while 27 per cent of its workforce is drawn from host communities and 25 per cent from across Osun State.

The newly commissioned Ogere-Ekun Golden Water Factory, located on Araromi Street in Iperindo, was developed as a community-owned venture under the CDA framework and is designed to produce up to 3,000 litres of treated water per hour when fully operational.

The facility is equipped with modern purification systems, including reverse osmosis and ozone treatment technology, as well as production and packaging units, storage infrastructure, and backup power supply.

SROL also confirmed the completion of a 2.4-kilometre road linking Imogbara and Odo-Ijesa. The project involved road grading, laterite filling, compaction, interlocking stone pavement, and drainage construction to improve durability and reduce flooding.

Oba Haastrup commended the company for its contributions to community development, noting that SROL’s operations have provided employment opportunities for thousands across the South-West, with a significant percentage drawn from Ijesaland.

He also emphasised the importance of Community Development Agreements and sustained corporate social responsibility efforts that deliver tangible benefits to host communities.

Company officials said the water project is expected to improve access to safe drinking water in rural areas while generating economic value as a community-managed enterprise. They added that improved road infrastructure would enhance connectivity, safety, and local economic activities between Imogbara and Odo-Ijesa.
