The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to return to Adamawa State and concentrate on his traditional responsibilities.

Kwankwaso made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Fulani Farmers Association at his Abuja residence.

He appealed to people from Adamawa to persuade Atiku, the Waziri of Adamawa, to return home, saying he should devote more attention to his chieftaincy duties given his age and physical condition.

Kwankwaso also questioned Atiku’s suitability to lead Nigeria at this stage, arguing that the country would have been more suited to him decades ago.

Recalling their political relationship in 1993, Kwankwaso said he was then Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and participated in supporting Atiku.

He maintained that Nigeria had changed significantly since then and suggested that Atiku should step aside from the race for the country’s leadership.
