Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending his decade-long association with the party.
Ochei announced his resignation in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the decision followed “deep reflections and wide consultations.”

The former lawmaker said he joined the APC in 2016 with a strong belief in the party’s vision and had since committed himself to building and strengthening its structures across Delta State.
According to him, he worked alongside other party faithful to expand the party’s grassroots support, encourage youth and women’s participation, and enhance its political relevance within the state.
“After deep reflections and wide consultations, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to formally resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and move on to continue my political journey elsewhere,” he stated.
Ochei noted that his decision was not driven by bitterness or hostility but by the need for “broader growth” and the continuation of his political convictions.
He stressed that leadership must evolve to reflect inclusion, fairness, mutual respect and the aspirations of the people.
The former Speaker, however, did not disclose the political platform he intends to join.

He expressed gratitude to his supporters, party leaders and stakeholders who stood by him during his stay in the APC and urged his followers to remain peaceful and committed to democratic ideals.
