The Office of the Accountant-General of Kano State has informed government employees that some staff who received duplicate salary payments for July 2026 were affected by a technical error during the salary payment process.

This was contained in a notice issued by Abdulhadi Hamza, Deputy Director, KIPPIS, on behalf of the Accountant-General of Kano State and dated July 26, 2026.

The office explained that the issue originated from the bank handling the salary payments and not from the state government’s payroll system.

According to the notice, the bank is currently working to reverse the excess payments directly from the accounts of affected employees.

The Accountant-General’s Office advised staff who received duplicate payments not to take any action for now and to await further instructions while the recovery process is ongoing.

The notice added that where the bank is unable to successfully reverse the excess payment, affected staff will be formally notified and guided on the appropriate procedure for refunding the outstanding amount.

The office expressed appreciation to workers for their understanding, patience and cooperation as efforts continue to resolve the issue.
