Yemen’s Houthi forces have launched ballistic missiles and drones at Aden International Airport and targets in Saudi Arabia as fighting intensifies between the group and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces.
At least one missile landed near the runway at Aden International Airport, forcing authorities to divert an incoming flight from Cairo and move aircraft on the ground as a precaution.
No casualties were reported from the attack on the airport.
The Saudi-led coalition separately said it intercepted Houthi ballistic missiles targeting areas including Riyadh and Khamis Mushait.
The Houthis have also claimed attacks against airports and other targets inside Saudi Arabia, although not all of the group’s claims have been independently confirmed.
The latest attacks come amid an intensified Saudi-backed offensive against Houthi forces in Yemen.
Yemeni government forces have been attempting to recapture strategically important territory around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and other areas following recent Houthi advances.

Government forces have reported capturing several positions during the offensive, while fighting has continued around Taiz and along Yemen’s Red Sea coast.
The Saudi-led coalition has accused Houthi forces of using areas under their control, including Sanaa, as launch sites for missiles and drones targeting Saudi territory.
The renewed escalation in Yemen comes against the wider backdrop of the continuing conflict involving Iran and the United States.
US President Donald Trump said Washington would soon determine how it intends to bring the conflict with Iran to an end, saying it could be resolved the “nice way or the not-so-nice way.”
Diplomatic efforts have so far failed to produce a lasting settlement, while military tensions involving Iran and its regional allies continue to affect several parts of the Middle East.

The escalating fighting in Yemen has also renewed concerns about security around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the world’s major maritime trade routes connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.
