Veteran Nollywood actor, Francis Duru has dismissed reports claiming he is battling a terminal illness, describing the rumours as false and malicious.
The speculation gained momentum after a video showing the actor with a noticeably slimmer appearance circulated widely on social media, prompting concern among fans and colleagues about his health.
Responding to the claims in a video posted on Instagram, Duru reassured supporters that he is not suffering from any serious illness and urged the public to disregard the reports.
The actor expressed gratitude to fans for their concern and continued prayers, while condemning those responsible for spreading what he described as misleading information.
According to him, the viral content was created by individuals seeking attention and online traffic through negative stories.
“I have never been that sick and, by God’s grace, I will continue to grow stronger,” Duru stated.
He further accused those behind the reports of deliberately spreading negativity and attempting to damage people’s reputations for personal gain.
“This is the work of people who thrive on negativity. They do not want to see others succeed and are only interested in creating sensational content,” he said.
While the actor firmly denied being critically ill, his appearance in the disclaimer video generated fresh reactions from fans, many of whom expressed concern about his apparent weight loss and physical condition.
Several followers flooded the comment section with messages of support and prayers, noting that he appeared slimmer and weaker than usual.
