Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday held a strategic meeting with representatives of the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) to discuss the domestication of a Specialised Training Programme on Counter-Terrorism Investigation at the Nigeria Police Academy.

The meeting focused on advancing the academic integration and institutional adoption of the programme as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen capacity in counter-terrorism investigation and law enforcement education in Nigeria.

Senior police officers, including Assistant Inspectors-General of Police Patrick Atayero and Uche Ifeanyi Henry, participated in the engagement, which explored frameworks for embedding specialised counter-terrorism training within the academy’s academic and professional curriculum.

The proposed programme is expected to enhance the investigative competence of police personnel and contribute to the development of sustainable counter-terrorism education and training structures within the Nigeria Police Academy.

According to the police leadership, the initiative reflects a growing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force, the NUC, and international stakeholders aimed at improving institutional collaboration and strengthening Nigeria’s capacity to respond to emerging security threats.

The meeting further underscored the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force and its partners to building a more professional, skilled, and responsive law enforcement system through specialised training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
