The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has held a direct meeting with retired police officers who staged a protest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja over unpaid entitlements.

The retired officers had gathered at the headquarters to demand the settlement of outstanding benefits when the IGP was alerted to their presence.

In response, the Police Chief immediately called for a meeting with the aggrieved retirees, where he listened to their complaints and concerns regarding unpaid retirement benefits.

During the engagement, IGP Disu assured the retirees that their grievances would be given urgent attention and that appropriate steps would be taken to address the matter.

Following the discussion, the retired officers expressed satisfaction with the IGP’s intervention and agreed to suspend their planned protest march to the Presidential Villa, allowing time for further engagement on their demands.

The development is seen as a move toward dialogue and peaceful resolution of tensions surrounding welfare concerns among retired personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Force Headquarters is expected to convey the concerns raised to relevant authorities for consideration and further action.
